2026 Fantasy Offseason Week 14
Auto(picks), Roll out!
Dear Insouciant Members of the Dana Burger Dynasty League,
Excepting Tim's technical difficulties, there seems to be a good number of you who can't bear to spend the five minutes on the toilet to make your draft pick. Get your shit together, I say literally.
Ok, enough of the dressing down. I will say that it does get slightly hard to follow when you have Tim and Todd basically dominating the first two rounds, but let's just agree that starting now, we will all check once a day. Plus you want to draft your defense and kicker, don't you? Lest I need to remind you that last year, some real fantasy contributors were found in round 5 (JCM and Woody Marks, to name two). So do yourself a favor and make your pick.
This week, as we are well into the offseason, I will look at at our completed round 1 review. While I gave my opinions on each pick 1-12, we can hand out some round 1 awards now that the round is fully complete. Hooray! Although I will say that after we finish up the rookie draft and we enter the days of summer, I may do a newsletter hiatus until NFL preseason starts; a league "hibernation" as it were. Again, after such intense scrutiny on this draft cough I am sure you all need a break.
Round 1 Awards
I believe last week's newsletter came with a couple picks left in the round so I feel a bit better doing round 1 awards now that it's definitely in the books.
###The Franchise Cornerstone Award
Todd Herrmann and his pick of Jeremiyah Love! The no-brainer selection should pay dividends for years.
###The Galaxy Brain Award
AJ Herrmann and drafting Antonio Williams. A 3rd round receiver in round 1, the gamble here is that Williams should be WR2 in Washington. Although looking around, there wasn't a consensus pick there anyway.
###The Luxury Pick Award
Lucas Miller and Jonah Coleman. Coleman might not see much playing time in year 1, but this was a nice pick to shore up the Denver backfield. Who needs WRs?
###The Chaos Award
Josh Connell and (the autopicked) Eli Stowers. Josh unfortunately autopicks Eli Stowers -- who will be valuable I might add -- but now has a crowded TE room of Trey McBride, Harold Fannin, and now Stowers. If I was Tyler or AJ (who really could have used Stowers), I'd offer Josh a trade for one of these guys.
###The Trade Back Award
Brett and Jadarian Price. Although it's hard to tell as Price had an ADP of 1.06, taking Price above Tyson and Lemon might be a 20/20 hindsight sort of pick. Piper is probably thankful in getting Lemon at his draft slot.
Best of the Rest
As I did last week, let's take a moment to look at the remaining pool of players and highlight some that should be in consideration for the rest of the round.
1. Mike Washington, RB, Las Vegas Raiders
While Jeanty is the RB1 here, a Klint Kubiak offense just showed how willing it is to use an RB split. Is Jeanty-Washington the new Walker-Charbonnet?
2. Ted Hurst, WR, Tampa Bay Bucs
With Mike Evans no longer on the roster, there is no "X receiver" on the team. Hurst is that player. It is a crowded room, but with Godwin aging out soon and McMillan having injury concerns, we may see Hurst emerge as a viable fantasy receiver.
3. Kaelon Black, RB, San Francisco 49ers
He was the RB3 drafted...and in a zone running scheme like San Fran, Black could be viable. Just ignore the likes of Tyrion Davis-Price and Trey Sermon of previous seasons.
4. Demond Clairborne, RB, Minnesota Vikings
I was debating whether to include Clairborne in this list as I had hopes he would fall to me. But he won't. I like Clairborne because he only has to beat out Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason for fantasy relevance, plus Minnesota looks like a candidate to take a step forward on offense this year.
5. Oscar Delp, TE, New Orleans Saints
Delp slots in as TE2 behind Juwan Johnson, who has been rather mediocre his entire career. Johnson will not only turn 30 this season, he has an out on his contract next offseason, setting Delp up to be the potential starting TE on an ascending Saints offense.
Alrighty, that's that for this week. Let's all resolve to get this draft moving again. Thanks and please do it.
Yours in Football,
Doug
