2026 Fantasy Offseason Week 13
I'm Shipping Up to Boston (CLE)
Dear Tarrying Members of the Dana Burger Dynasty League,
A new website, a new...newsletter format, and a new dawning for the DBDL! I am hoping this newsletter/email format works and that you are receiving an email preview and link to direct you to our weekly newsletter/email on our new website. There (should even) be a window on the front page displaying it as well! Technology at its finest.
We are underway in our rookie draft and I think we are tracking ahead of schedule, although it seems like we are a bit slower than last year. We are on pick 13 and only 7 days in, so that's not too bad. No trades yet, however, but perhaps round 2 will bring some more excitement. This week, with no more use of a rookie spotlight, we will take a look at a quick round 1 (thus far) analysis. Exciting stuff! Let's jump in.
Round 1 Recap
Round 1 is almost done and so far it's been pretty chalk. There haven't been too many surprises, although we can do some analysis now that players have firmly landed on teams and it is not hypothetical anymore.
1.01: Jeremiyah Love --> Todd
Todd gets his RB and now enters into 2026 with Kyren Williams and Jeremiyah Love as his RB1 and RB2. Coupled with Tyrone Tracy, who will start the season as Cam Skattebo recovers from his injury, puts Todd firmly in the top half of the league in terms of running back rooms. Now all he has to solve is his wide receiver issue.
1.02: Fernando Mendoza --> Erik
Erik goes ADP and chalk here with Mendoza at 2. After a season where his formidable 4-starting QB roster slipped a bit, Mendoza adds another name into a QB room that has the chance of falling apart with the oft-injured Penix and shaky Bryce Young. Erik can afford, however, to wait for Mendoza to take the starting reins as it looks like Cousins will start in Las Vegas this season.
1.03: Carnell Tate --> Tim
Tim opts for Tate over Tyson for the WR1 in the draft. The bet here is that Tate enters as the WR1 for the Titans vs. Tyson as the WR2 in New Orleans. This pick hinges upon Cam Ward's development, but Tim could use another WR after the falloff from Brian Thomas last year. Tim's wide receiver room actually was a bit lacking, and Tate should help anchor it for the foreseeable future.
1.04: Jadarian Price --> Brett
The first semi-surprise of the draft, Brett opts to go positional scarcity over the ADP of Jordyn Tyson or Makai Lemon. Brett pairs Price with Jeanty for a young running back tandem, and the gamble here is that Charbonnet's injury lingers and Price just takes the starting role day 1 and never looks back. Honestly, this pick may pay dividends as Seattle has a well-run offense and strong defense that could see many late-game carries. Time will tell, but Brett needed an RB rebound after Kaleb Johnson last year.
1.05: Jordyn Tyson --> Eddie
Eddie benefits from the Price pick and gets a much-needed WR for his room to pair with all his WR2 and WR3s. Now with Tyson, Eddie's group looks solid with Tyson-J.Williams-Doubs. Eddie's team may surprise this year given the boost here.
1.06: Makai Lemon --> Doug P.
Piper lucks out as there seems to be a real tier break at the 6-7 (cue Gen Z) split. Assuming AJ Brown is really going to the Pats, Lemon slots in as the #2 and should contribute right away. This helps Doug's WR room as Lemon should be another reliable piece each week along with Metcalf and Pierce.
1.07: KC Concepcion --> Andy
Andy desperately needs wide receiver help but it's hard to gauge what kind of impact Concepcion will make this year, especially with Boston also drafted onto the Browns. This was the pick to make here, so not much more analysis to go along with this pick.
1.08: Jonah Coleman --> Lucas
Coleman may have gone a bit earlier than predicted, but Lucas's team is definitely the one to do it. Although Coleman lands in Denver in a crowded backfield, Lucas does have JK Dobbins on his roster; it seems that Coleman will eventually take the Dobbins role and fits in nicely to continue on Lucas's roster as "Denver RB1". Yes, RJ Harvey is still there, but at 25 and looking like the 3rd down back, I like the Coleman pick here specifically for Lucas.
1.09: Omar Cooper Jr. --> Brett (via Sam)
Brett goes RB-WR in the first round, and Cooper was probably best player available here. Cooper will be fighting for looks with Wilson and Sadiq, but as the WR2 in a (potentially) ascending offense, this may look even better a year from now if the Jets secure their QB of the future in 2027.
1.10: Ty Simpson --> Andy (via Doug)
In some ways, this is similar to Lucas's pick, as Andy not only gets the QB2 in the draft, but it makes sense specifically for him with Matthew Stafford as his starting QB. The transition should be seamless for Andy, and the pick is a sound one at 10.
1.11: Kenyon Sadiq --> Tim (via Aaron)
Sadiq is best player available, and while Tim has both Pitts and Goedert rostered, Sadiq's upside is too high to ignore. I don't know how much he contributes this year, but he's a nice insurance pick for Tim's current TE make-up.
1.12: Denzel Boston --> Tyler
Boston is the chalk pick at 12, as his projected draft range could have been anywhere between 8-12. As a prototypical X, I wonder how the Browns will use him. If they follow the Ravens model, he may profile closer to a Rashod Bateman, but the hope here is that the Browns personnel changes deployment of skill players.
Best of the Rest
With two more picks in round 1, we are still not done! But as we move into round 2, here are some of my favorite remaining players (with some ideas on potential landing spots?)
Eli Stowers, TE, Philadelphia
TE2 in this class, he may have better numbers than Sadiq right away. Goedert should be off the team after this season. I imagine AJ drafts him at 14 as he slots in real nice as Kittle's heir apparent.Antonio Williams, WR, Washington
Although a 3rd round pick, Williams should both serve as starting slot receiver and WR2. He instantly becomes Daniels's security blanket and could be a PPR machine. Todd should consider him at 2.01.Chris Bell, WR, Miami
AJ Brown-esque, Bell is recovering from an ACL tear, but could be back late in the season. Both in terms of skill, profile, but most importantly landing spot, Bell might be WR1 by the end of the season. Erik can afford to go high upside at 2.02.Carson Beck, QB, Arizona
Beck might have the highest odds as first QB starting of the 2026 rookies (unless Rodgers doesn't sign with the Steelers). Beck has to beat out Minshew and Brissett, but assuming the Cardinals are bad quickly, they might throw Beck in sooner rather than later to see what they have...and to begin the tank for #1.Malachi Fields, WR, New York Giants
Although a 3rd round pick, Fields is a big, X receiver who will garner looks opposite Nabers. He's already been praised for his blocking ability, and so he may be on the field more than anticipated. More time on the field=more chances as catches. He could be a jump ball end zone guy as well.
Alright, that's it for this week! Get used to this new format as the future is NOW!
Yours in Fantasy Efficiency (and Innovation),
Doug
