2026 Preseason Week 1

Dear Appetent Members of the Dana Burger Dynasty League,

While I don't anticipate many of you caught it, there was actually professional football broadcasted last week Thursday: the Hall of Fame game between the Carolina Panthers and the Arizona Cardinals. Yes, players who you may never hear from again played and scored touchdowns, but there were some names that may sound familiar. Rookie Carson Beck didn't look horrible, and AJ Dillon (remember him?) scored a rushing TD for Carolina.

But even if you didn't catch the game, the HoF game signals that the NFL season is upon us! This week we officially enter preseason week 1, with all teams playing their first preseason game. We'll get to see some rookies, as well as Aaron Rodgers for some reason. Yes, you can check; Mike McCarthy said that Rodgers is going to play in the first game. Along with preseason games comes us dusting off the offseason and buckling down for fantasy. Here we are! We have things to discuss, league dues to submit, and overall venture forth into another year of dynasty fantasy football.

Let's get into some housekeeping.

Things to do before the season starts: 9/9

  1. League dues: I will be sending everyone a Venmo request for $110. If I do not receive the money by 9/5, I will bench all your players and lock roster moves. So do yourself a favor and just accept the request! Remember that the additional $10 is for the mid-season tournament, which is run through our very own website. Exciting stuff!

  2. Recall a few rule changes going into effect this season:

  • Draft order (for non-playoff) will be based on max PF.
  • Fractional kicker scoring
  • Winner of the consolation bracket earns a compensatory pick at the end of the 3rd round
  1. We will be voting this offseason on superflex decision part 2. The change will be going into effect before the 2029 season. Just a reminder for all of you to scrutinize your rosters this season and decide what you want to do.

Training Camp Heroes

In this section, I will be highlighting some players getting positive buzz out of training camp. Some turn out to be Puka Nacua; others turn out to be Skyy Moore. Let's see if any of these guys pan out!

  1. Cyrus Allen, WR, KC Chiefs
    Maybe it's because of the poor reports coming out re: Rashee Rice, but welcome to your 2026 KC Chiefs rookie darling. I don't know much about Cyrus Allen, but if you google him I am sure you can make your mind up on whether you want to take a flyer on him. Either way, I think whether he hits or not depends on a few factors, but you could do worse on a team with Rashee Rice coming off of a knee injury (and jail), Xavier Worthy who I think is already injured, and Mr. Taylor Swift.

  2. Malik Benson, WR, LV Raiders
    Quick, name the starting WRs in Las Vegas! If you said Tre Tucker, Jack Bech, and Jalen Nailor, good for you, you sicko. While we all know Bowers is the WR1 here, rookie Malik Benson has been making a name for himself. There doesn't seem to be much competition here at WR, so maybe he hits? Good luck Doug Piper who already pounced on this training camp darling.

  3. Carson Beck, QB, AZ Cardinals
    While a more recognizable name, Beck is part of this list because he looked...not terrible during the HoF game. In fact, he looked surprisingly adept. Depending on how he fares the rest of the preseason, there is a good chance the Cardinals give him to starts later in the season to see what they have here.

  4. Caleb Douglas, WR, MIA Dolphins
    Similar to the Las Vegas WR room, let's do an audit of the Dolphins WRs: Jalen Tolbert, Malik Washington, Tutu Atwell. Unsure which is worse. So Caleb Douglas, rookie drafted in the 3rd round, clearly has a shot to start this season and has made a name for himself. Personally, I am rooting for him because of his last name.

  5. Ja'Kobi Lane, WR, BAL Ravens
    And a name more familiar, maybe, is Lane. Lane is probably the highest valued rookie from this list, and he was drafted the highest (I think). But he's supposedly the second coming and having the greatest training camp of any rookie in Ravens history. Todd needs a good WR, so let's all hope Lane is actually good!

Class of 2027 Preview

In this final section today, it's never too early to start looking to next year's rookie class. Much can happen, but for those of you who are really sick in the head, here are some college football names to nod along to when they make CFB headlines. Throughout the season, please check out our prospect page to keep a tally on these players!
